China Sends a New Crew to Its Space Station

May 25, 2026

China launched a spacecraft called Shenzhou-23 with three astronauts heading to the Tiangong space station. A space station is like a science clubhouse that orbits Earth, where people live and work while everything around them wants to float.

Up on Tiangong, astronauts do more than take photos. They act like careful builders and scientists: checking machines that recycle air and water, fixing equipment, and running experiments to see how things work in low gravity.

One astronaut may stay for about a year, which takes serious planning and teamwork. Living in space means even simple things—like keeping track of your socks—requires practice and good habits.

When you hear space news like this, try thinking like a scientist: What tools do astronauts need to stay safe and healthy? And how might experiments in space lead to new ideas or inventions back on Earth?
